Missouri Association of Building Inspectors (MABI) was formed by a small group of inspectors prior to 1950. In 1952 the name was changed to include Building Officials becoming the Missouri Association of Building Officials and Inspectors (MABOI).

In 1963 MABOI became Charter Chapter #3 of Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc. (BOCA) for the State of Missouri. We then incorporated as a not-for-profit organization with the State of Missouri September 14, 1967. In 1978 MABOI became a foundation for education.
With the formation of the International Code Council (ICC), MABOI became an official chapter.
